Board Members

President – Rochelle Alford

Rochelle has been an active volunteer in the Capistrano Unified School District since her son began kindergarten in 2008.  She has enjoyed working directly with students and teachers in the classroom as well as serving on the PTA Board. Rochelle grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from California State University, Fresno.   She
obtained her CPA license while at KPMG Peat Marwick in San Jose and worked in the Silicon Valley area as an accountant for large corporations and emerging startups.  Rochelle and her husband, Bill, relocated to Mission Viejo in 1999.  She joined the CVHS Foundation Board in 2017 and continues to work as an accountant for Irvine Child Development Center, the Mission Viejo Nadadores
and other small businesses in the community.

Secretary – Irene Palatics

Irene and her husband, Bryn, have lived in Mission Viejo for 20 years. They have two children; their son is a Capo Senior, and their daughter is a freshman. Irene was President of Reilly Elementary’s PTA, held various Board positions, organized school wide events at both Reilly and Newhart, and now serves as Capo’s PTSA Vice President. Irene was appointed by Trustee Judy Bullockus to be a member of the District’s Instructional Materials Review Committee.  She also volunteers for the City of Mission Viejo weekly at the Mission Viejo Library bookstore and in their Amazon Department as well as with the Mission Viejo Activities Committee.  Irene received an Honors Bachelor’s degree in History and English from The University of Toronto, a Bachelor’s of Education from The University of Toronto, and a Masters Degree in History from McMaster University.  She was a History and English teacher before moving to California from Toronto, Canada.

Treasurer – Janet Lazatin

Janet and her husband, Ron, have lived in Mission Viejo since 1996. Three of her children have already graduated from Capo Valley High School and her fourth and final child is a freshman at Capo Valley this fall of 2019. Her eldest, Lauren, graduated from Biola University with a degree in elementary education. Her daughter, Alyssa, attends UC Santa Barbara and plays on the softball team for UCSB. Her son, Kyle, is attending Baylor University in Texas majoring in religion. Janet has been actively involved in volunteering in CUSD schools since 2002. She has served on the executive boards of Castille PTA, Castille Booster Club, Newhart PTA, and now CVHS Foundation. She has volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for her  daughters and well as several school athletic booster clubs for each of her children. She has a B.S. in Finance from Long Beach State.  Janet has worked in the accounting field in the consumer electronics field, real estate, and investment banking and is currently the accountant at Mount of Olives Church in Mission Viejo.


David Hindley

Dave and his wife, Chris, have lived in Mission Viejo since 2000. They have two children. Their son is a Sophomore at Chapman University and their daughter is a Sophomore at Capistrano Valley High School. Dave has been actively volunteering in CUSD schools for over fifteen years.  He has held numerous Executive Board and Advisory Board positions for several volunteer organizations, including the PTA, and has served as PTA President for Carl Hankey K-8 School.  Dave was also a founding officer of CHIEF (the Carl Hankey International Education Foundation). Dave has also served as President of the Church Council at Mount of Olives Church in Mission Viejo. Dave received his undergraduate degree in International Relations from UC Davis and his MBA from Pepperdine University. He has worked in various project management, marketing and business planning roles for the Defense Department, Rockwell, Boeing and the Disneyland Resort.

Michelle Jackson

Michelle and her husband James have lived in Mission Viejo since 2002.  They have three children.  The oldest son is a senior at Trabuco Hills HS, their middle son is a freshman at Capo, and their daughter is a 6th grader at Newhart.  Michelle has been actively involved in her children’s schools for the past 12 years, serving on PTA boards at Newhart and Castille and on the Castille Booster board, and chairing many programs and events at the elementary level.  Michelle received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from CSU, Chico, and her teaching credential from CSU, East Bay.  She taught second and third grade in the Burlingame School District for 8 years before relocating to Southern California.

Leslie Swan

Leslie and her husband, Dave, have lived in Mission Viejo since 2000. They have two children. Their son is a Freshman at Capistrano Valley High School and their daughter is in 6th grade at Newhart Middle School. Leslie has been actively volunteering in CUSD schools since moving to Mission Viejo.  She held various Executive Board positions on the Castille Elementary PTA in the 9 years that her children attended the school.  Leslie received her Bachelor of Arts from The University of San Diego. Since graduating, she has has worked in several fields including communications, training and development, and pharmaceutical sales.  Her career is now focused on residential real estate in Orange County.  In addition to volunteering, Leslie believes in giving back to schools through her business and offers an education donation program that has donated over $15,000 to Capistrano Unified Schools alone.

Vicki Therrien

Vicki Therrien was raised in Laguna Niguel and is a former CUSD student. Vicki and her family currently live in Mission Viejo. Vicki has been actively involved in volunteering through CUSD for the past 10 years. She has one son that is currently a junior and involved in many sport at CVHS.  Vicki has held numerous Executive Board and Chair Positions for PTA and served as PTA President at Reilly Elementary, PTA and School Site Council for Newhart Middle School, along with several Executive Chair positions. Vicki is now volunteering her time at CVHS with Foundation and the Football Booster Association as Freshman Parent Rep. Vicki has continued to work closely with the City of Mission Viejo and the Police Department for the Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon events.  Vicki attended Concordia University with a degree in Business and an emphasis in Healthcare. She has held the position as Practice Administrator for a Surgical-Medical Practice for over 23 years.
